ken - Destroyer. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Dead Oceans. Dan Bejar has been recording as Destroyer for over two decades, and each of his 12 full-length records feels uniquely unmoored in time: Its as if hes never been of any era, but merely adjacent to several, attentively noting the mores of the day from some vaguely aristocratic, martini-sipping remove. It makes sense, then, that ken, Destroyers first new release since 2015s Poison Season, contains lessons, both musical and spiritual, about how history repeats itself-all the ways in which we are destined or doomed to fulfill old prophecies. Ken stylized in all lowercase is the eleventh studio album by Canadian indie rock band Destroyer, released on October 20, 2017 by Merge Records. Band Leader Dan Bejar began writing ken while on tour in Washington State. Many of the songs and sounds of the album were aesthetic callbacks to Bejar's teenage years in the mid 1980's, with loose ties to Thatcher era politics. ken by Destroyer, released 20 October 2017 1. Stay Lost 11. La Regle du Jeu. monokhrome Bejar and company tackle a dusty, new wave-indebted strain of sophisti-pop for an album full of liminal romances, decaying dreams, and outsiders aching for the ghost of a chance. Favorite track: Rome. Matthew Barry. For my 848th review, Dan Bejar pivots into a stunning, gothic and complicated exploration of artistic trauma that's easily one of the best of . Dan Bejar continues to muse on magnificent glories and tragic shortcomings. by Kayleigh Hughes. Like most of Destroyers output, ken isnt an album about something. Bejar has said that he was thinking of the last few years of the Thatcher era when writing it, and if you want to analyze kens intentions from an academic perspective, thats really the only key you need. But it is far more an artists album and a listeners album than a critics album. Thats part of what makes it so fun to write about and so difficult to evaluate. Genre: Synthpop. ken isn't a nostalgic album. Instead Destroyer borrows a romantic sense of doom from New Order without romanticizing the music or the time and comfortably works it into Bejars own aesthetic, one that is equal measures unhinged and detached, urbane and sensuous.
