b'lieve i'm goin down. is the sixth studio album by American indie rock musician Kurt Vile, released on September 25, 2015 on Matador Records. featuring six additional tracks, was released on the same day. Produced primarily by Vile and his bandmate Rob Laakso, the album was recorded in ten different recording studios, with sessions often taking place late at night. Pretty Pimpin, I'm an Outlaw and more. 12 tracks 60:54. B'lieve I'm Goin Down. released two years after that 2013 breakthrough, whittles away some of the excesses while retaining eccentricity, trading ten-minute sprawls with six-strings for woozy five-minute vamps on a piano. Electric guitars aren't entirely absent but they're used for coloring - arriving unexpectedly as a wash of distortion or perhaps a bit of percussion - on a record anchored by acoustic guitars and banjos. is an impeccably arranged album beneath its soothing, sleepy surface, with every element assisting in an illusion of deep, shimmering, and alluring melancholy. Wheelhouse is incredible and of course Pretty Pimpin kicks off the album with a great opener. Overall, maybe the best album from Kurt Vile to date. 1 of 1 users found this helpful. b'lieve im goin' downb'lieve im goin' down is Kurt Viles 6th album, and the follow-up to 2013s Wakin On A Pretty Daze. Heres what Kim Gordon has to say about it: Kurt does his own myth-making a boyman with an old soul voice in the age of digital everything becoming something else, which is why this focused, brilliantly clear and seemingly candid record is a breath of fresh air. Recorded and mixed in a number of locations, including Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, b'lieve im goin down is a handshake across the country, east to west coast, thru the dustbowl history valley of ashes of woody. Kurt Vile's albums draw you in with the vibe, but you return to them for their human qualities, the way. His tossed-off musings on blieve im goin down remind you that every sage worth a damn knew that life was absurdly funny

An edition which is limited to 3500 copies it's a lot. When 2780 of them are in Doscogs collection, it's weird. Am I wrong?
Love this album! The bonus tracks work seamlessly with the original album tracks to make a coherent whole of a fantastic 3LP! My pressing is very good. Flat discs, great dynamics, nice soundstage, no crackle and pop (I have vacuum cleaned it)
Major glue issues with the sleeves, but nice sounding records - flat and quiet.
My copy had the glue issue on LP's 1 & 2 but it wasn't anything I couldn't fix with a good knife. Just pry open the seam and then press the glued portion back where it should be after removing the record. I'll probably just store the inner sleeves separately to avoid having them get stuck again. Excellent record otherwise, of course.
I have no glue problem with the 3xLP, but the first vinyl in unlistenable. Needle is sliding all over like if there was no groove. The other two LP's are plaing great. Did someone experience this ? Thanks
Thansk. I have a counterweight. I washed teh record twice and the problem disapeared.
I usually see this in turntables without counterweights.
B’lieve I’m Goin’ Down feels like rock n’ roll, but it’s more ...B’lieve I’m Goin’ Down feels like psychedelic folk, but it’s more ...B’lieve I’m Goin’ Down feels like roots rock, but it’s more ...B’lieve I’m Goin’ Down feels lush-fully blissed out, but it’s more ...B’lieve I’m Goin’ Down feels like music I thought I’d never hear again ...B’lieve I’m Goin’ Down feels like something very special ...B’lieve I’m Goin’ Down exists, and in the same breath it doesn’t. Never have I had the pleasure of hearing a more etherial album laced with intoxicating imagery and such a big smooth sound, a sound that almost lingers in front of you before and as it’s morphing into something else ... like a puff of smoke, or shifting clouds across a dream laden landscape.Don’t go thinking that this is more of Walkin’ On A Pretty Daze, because it’s not, that brilliant piece was light years and a lifetime ago. Reading the lyrics, I found them almost laughable, yet backed by Kurt’s vocals and instrumentation, they take on the qualities of a finely crafted movie, or a black and white picture that makes you wonder how you could have passed that place, and never seen it in this manner. B’live I’m Goin’ Down is about as introspective as one can get, and still remain conscious enough to recognize the creative process. It’s the poetry of the 21st Century, brought to life with an amplified guitar and a transcendent vision that divines and elevates the almost mundane.B’lieve I’m Goin’ Down is not a daytime album, it harkens back to Smoke Ring For My Halo, yet more so, charting a course where everything falls away, say for the singer, his verse, and the endless night sky. Having said that, there’s nothing weary, droning, or labored about the release, it holds it’s own with passion and a striking beauty ... like an outlaw’s tale. There are several songs I could point to, such as “That’s Live Thou,” “Dust Bunnies,” “Lost My Head There,” or “Pretty Pimpin,” and say that I sincerely doubt that Kurt Vile will ever write anything better, but then I thought that about “Walkin’ On A Pretty Day” ... which leaves me to dream of what will unexpectedly fall into our laps in the future, though for now, I’m content to live with this for a very long time. ***The bundled set was the way to go, three vinyl albums, two guitar picks, one insert, one tee-shirt, and a turntable platter mat. As far as vinyl recordings go, this production is first rate, drenching your listening space with a quality I’d not expected, and even with headphones, I was sincerely delighted.Review by Jenell Kesler
Glue issues in both the 1st and 3rd pockets. Poster is still stuck inside. Anyway, Great all around besides that. Not that big a deal to me really...
the inner sleeve for lp1 was glued together for mine too. and the "poster" is really just a cute little photo insert. BUT: KV is the man, it's a great package, sounds great, etc etc
I had the same issue. I was able to get them out without tearing anything though. I resealed them and left the glue to dry. I'm not sure if it will hold though. Yeah, the "poster" is just an insert.
My LP1 inner sleeve was stuck to the glue in which the sleeve was ripped to get it unstuck. Mine did not come with a poster, but did some with a 7" 45 of Pretty Pimpin. The outer jacket also seems damaged from shipping.
How does the poster look ? I only got a printed inner in my copy.Had no glue issues , great album.
did not see a poster either, only two sided detailed 30cmx30cm paper with photos in it.. and detailed inners.. that 'poster' is so thin so you have perhaps missed it !? check it again :)
Copy buyed today in Barcelona. Same problem with LP1 and LP3. Inner sleeve glued. Good unsealed. The poster with a little damage.
Definitely an issue with the glue not holding as described by others, as if you push LP1 or LP3 back into the sleeve too far they become stuck. To get the LP inner sleeve and record back out i had to unseal the glued section by putting my arm back into the sleeve and then pull ... luckily they came out without tearing and i could reseal the glue as if nothing had happened. Later i had the same issue with the poster/extra inner sleeve under LP3 which will easily get stuck and is probably more likely to tear being that it's one sheet. I've now stored this in the middle section under LP2 where there is no glue. But could be a good idea to store both LP1 and LP3 outside the sleeves altogether as described in the initial post. Interestingly my copy came out fine first time, was only an issue upon putting the records back in ... but the glued sections are definitely not holding firm preventing the sleeves slipping under the glue. Still it's a great album and the photos, lyrics & general layout are fantastic. Shame the manufacturing has the glitch outlined above.
First time after opening they came out fine, but after being put back in they slipped under the glue. I couldn't remove them by pulling the inner sleeve out so i put my arm in hoping the glue would unstick and it did - without ripping the sleeve. i had to unglue the seam though and then resealed. Luckily no damage. I now keep all the LP sleeves in the middle of the package outside the inner openings ... seems to work well and no worries about the glue issue going forward. I'd advise everyone to do this rather than gamble every time on the glue ...
did you open in completely ? like wiiide open (all the way open) and pulled the inners and sleeves out?
Just opened 39minutes fresh item from shrink.. had no problem what so ever.. sleeves did drop easily from the cover.. no glue issues or anything :)
Anyone else's copy of the 3xLP have an issue with the sleeve? The sleeve folds open twice, making individual storage spaces for each of the LPs, with LP1 on the left side, LP2 in the middle, and LP3 inside the right fold. However, there was an issue with the glue used to seal the folds where the left fold meets the center, and also where the right fold meets the center. Glue was supposed to hold the sleeves together there so that the LPs couldn't slide further into the center, but both LP1 and LP3 were shoved too far down into their sleeve folds and the inner sleeves were then stuck to the glue and tore as I pulled the LPs out. Definitely recommend storing LP1 and LP3 outside of the sleeve entirely to prevent this from continuing to happen.
Likewise, only my download card was stuck. It came out without damage and all sleeves/inserts otherwise came out fine.
Only damage in my copy was teared download card. After pressing glue seems to hold.

Tore the sleeve of side E/F and the poster as I pulled it out. Side A/B is permanently glued in there. Can't even get it out. Not impressed.
Yup. I've had this same issue. I was fortunate and was able pull the sleeves out undamaged, but it took me a while...
Similar situation with my copy. Contacted Matador this morning, haven't heard back yet.
Have the same issue. I contacted Matador, they're aware of the situation and said if anything was damaged that they'd replace individual sleeves as necessary. Not ideal, but at least it's something.
